I recently resumed work on a monotype I first started working on in March 2012. It is a monotype based on oil paint and linseed oil, hand printed with a baren. It has taken many layers to achieve the painterly finish. The work is based on a photograph by Aurel Stein, taken of a camel train working its way over sand dunes. I like to imagine that the shadow is the shadow of Aurel Stein, enhanced by the angle of the dunes as he took the photograph.
