Stalagmites and stalactites_from start to finish

Inspired by the memory (and a photo) of a childhood family trip to the Jenolan caves, I recreated the experience using armature wire, plaster, encaustic wax and a cool dripping water soundtrack.

Video art – sound and motion

A recent project involved the creation of a work in response to the prompts of sound and motion. After much consideration of motion prompted by sound (alarm clocks, whistles, sirens etc) and motion that generates sound (trains, cars etc), I happened to be in the right place at the right time to record the shadowy, almost other worldly images cast by runners on the beach at Hampton. Accompanied by lapping waves and a lone kayaker, and snatches of conversation from the runners above.

Lost ‘Marsupial Lion’ at the Queensland Museum@ qldmuseum

The ‘Lost Creatures’ exhibition at the Queensland Museum includes the skull of a Marsupial Lion (who knew there was such a creature), which I drew. A photo/drawing collage is shown below.

Cardboard etching with multiple layers

I have recently been investigating the techniques learned at a recent workshop with Sarah Amos, about using cardboard for etching and collograph plates. Here are images of very early works (with 2 to 3 layers) plus my studio logo executed as a cardboard etching.
